Tivolt Electric Vehicles, a leading small electric commercial vehicle manufacturer and a subsidiary of TI Clean Mobility under the Murugappa Group, has signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL). This strategic collaboration aims to drive the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) in India by developing a robust EV charging infrastructure tailored specifically for the commercial vehicle segment.
By combining TPREL’s expertise in EV charging solutions with Tivolt’s rapidly expanding presence in the small electric commercial vehicle market, this partnership is poised to create a seamless and accessible charging network. The initiative will focus on equipping Tivolt dealerships, customer hubs, and high-traffic public areas with strategically located EV charging stations. This comprehensive infrastructure will empower commercial EV owners with reliable, easy-to-access charging options, facilitating smoother operations and encouraging wider EV adoption.
TPREL’s extensive experience in establishing EV charging solutions across India serves as the backbone of this collaboration. Currently, TPREL’s EZ Charge network includes over 1,00,000 home chargers, more than 6,500 public and semi-public charging points, and over 1,100 bus charging stations across 530 cities. These charging stations are positioned at diverse locations such as highways, shopping malls, offices, hospitals, and residential complexes, ensuring maximum accessibility and convenience for users.
To further strengthen their commitment to sustainable mobility, TPREL will explore integrating solar energy systems at Tivolt dealerships and customer locations. This initiative aims to lower the carbon footprint and reduce charging costs, making EV adoption more affordable and environmentally friendly. This innovative approach aligns with both companies’ vision of promoting clean energy and driving India’s transition towards a greener future.
Saju Nair, CEO of Tivolt Electric Vehicles, emphasized the significance of the partnership: “Our collaboration with Tata Power is a critical step towards accelerating EV adoption. By providing robust and accessible charging solutions for our small commercial EVs, we aim to ensure sustainable and efficient mobility solutions for our customers. Together, we’re not just building infrastructure—we’re shaping the future of transportation in India.”
Echoing this sentiment, Deepesh Nanda, CEO and MD of TPREL, said, “Through this partnership, we aim to empower the commercial vehicle sector—a key driver of India’s economy. By enhancing the EV charging network, we’re enabling seamless last-mile connectivity and laying the groundwork for a sustainable, electrified future. Our collaboration with Tivolt underscores our shared commitment to clean energy and innovation.”
Tivolt’s Montra Electric range of small and light commercial vehicles is set to redefine the market with its reliability, technological advancements, and sustainable solutions. This partnership with TPREL strengthens Tivolt’s promise of delivering a tech-driven, customer-first ecosystem that prioritizes convenience and sustainability.
The partnership between Tivolt and TPREL represents a significant leap forward in India’s EV journey. By developing a well-integrated charging infrastructure tailored for commercial EVs, the two companies aim to address critical challenges in EV adoption, paving the way for a cleaner, greener, and more efficient transportation ecosystem in the country.
